 Welcome

In 1973, a small but dedicated group of a few dozen public health practitioners gathered in Washington, D.C., to discuss the state of international health and the need to raise the world’s collective consciousness about the dire state of world health and the needs of people living in developing countries.
Now, 35 years later, this humble gathering has grown to be the Global Health Council’s Annual International Conference, this year highlighting Community Health: Delivering, Serving, Engaging, Leading, with more than 2,000 participants from 70 countries. In plenary, workshop, forum, panel, roundtable and poster sessions, we meet health practitioners, researchers, policy makers and activists who together tackle problems endemic to the world’s population most in need.
The Global Health Council is proud that we can continue to meet at our Annual International Conference that serves as a conduit for debate, research and policy, so important in this fluid landscape of politics and promises. It is here that we can build the bridges to create better alliances on our way together to the healthy world we envision.
Welcome to the Global Health Council’s 35th Annual Conference.
