Canadian PM Calls for New Focus on Maternal and Child Health at G8
Jan. 27, 2010
On the eve of his departure for the World Economic Forum in Switzerland, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper called for a new emphasis on maternal and child health at the upcoming G8 meeting in Canada in an op-ed article in the Toronto Star: http://www.thestar.com/opinion/article/755721
Harper is hoping maternal and child health will become Canada's "signature" focus at the G8 in June and will outline his agenda in more detail in a speech this week at the World Economic Forum.
The Global Health Council and its members Interaction, Family Care International, PATH, and Save the Children have been involved in the G8 process since last October and will continue to work with partners in the countries of the G8 and G20, as well as developing countries, to support this new effort of the Canadian government.
